The growing preference for cleaner lines and more transitional details seen in recent years has elevated the perception and general knowledge of slim shaker cabinets (sometimes referred to as micro shaker cabinets).

What are Slim Shaker Cabinets?

Traditional shaker style cabinet doors are simple in form, with stiles and rails that can range from 2 14 – 3 12” in width. Slim shaker cabinets have noticeably narrower stiles and rails. In the case of two new introductions from Shiloh Cabinetry, 1 12” and 34”  on the Malibu and Napa doors.

Narrow stiles and rails—a refined look.

Mike Beck of Beck/Allen Cabinetry shed light on evolving styles and the role this door style can play in achieving transitional kitchens or baths.

“Homeowners and designers seeking something less traditional can find a slab door style too severe. In this case, I suggest the slim shaker. It gives the minimalist look while retaining some dimension. It’s slightly more elegant, a refined take on a more commonplace/traditional design.”
