For master bathroom design ideas best described as traditional with a twist, look no further than our Maryland Heights showroom. The vision for one of our most popular bathroom vanities on display began with the selection of a traditional doorstyle in a painted finish: Repose Gray from Shiloh Cabinetry.
We determined a neutral palette of subdued, warm grays and set forth to assemble a master bath that would balance elegance and serenity while remaining fresh and forward-thinking. We selected tile, stone, hardware and fixtures (both lighting and plumbing) in similar shades and finishes, but were mindful of mixing styles with thoughtful applications.
A DOSE OF THE UNEXPECTED
A few unexpected elements quickly took the space from traditional to transitional. Among them, we opted for a more modern approach to mirrors, making them tall, narrow and frameless.
Surrounding the mirrors and filling the wall from countertop to ceiling, we selected a handcrafted, decorative field tile. Though subtle, the tile’s pattern also leans more modern, and was applied vertically around the mirrors for a more refined, sophisticated approach—a small change that instantly adds visual interest.

In keeping with the display’s neutral palette, mixing styles achieves a transitional look. We’ve paired plumbing fixtures and countertops that are as classic as they come, with a more modern, patterned tile and a textured glass undermount sink.
